Venetian plaster in Lake Forest

A plaster finish should work with the room, not compete with it. For a Lake Forest interior, we start with the existing walls, the woodwork you want to keep and the way daylight moves across the surface.

Choose the finish in the room

A smooth, reflective plaster and a more textured mineral finish create different effects. Bring a room photograph and any stone, fabric or paint references to the first discussion. We can then narrow the color, movement and sheen before preparing a physical sample.

  • Review the sample in daylight and under the room’s evening lighting.
  • Compare it beside existing trim, cabinetry and stone rather than against a blank white wall.
  • Agree how the finish should meet corners, openings and the ceiling.

Keep the original details in the plan

Older walls can contain several previous coatings, patched areas and uneven transitions. We review what is sound, what needs repair and which details must be protected before applying decorative plaster. A new finish is not a substitute for addressing an active leak or continuing wall movement.

Plan an occupied home one room at a time

Tell us whether the home will remain occupied and which rooms need to stay accessible. The scope should include furniture protection, a material staging area and time for preparation, application and drying. Tall walls, ceiling work and detailed openings need to be included in the initial review, not added as an afterthought.

See the surface, not just the color

Our plaster photographs show texture, light and the surrounding materials. Use them to explain the effect you like, then review a sample for your own room.

Confirm the wider project scope

Lake Forest has locally protected historic districts and individual landmarks. If the proposed work affects protected architectural details or extends beyond an interior finish update, ask the City which review applies to the actual property and scope. A decorative finish consultation does not establish permit or preservation approval.

Before the work begins

Can Venetian plaster go over existing painted walls?

Sometimes, after the existing coating and wall condition are checked. Loose paint, moisture, repairs and primer compatibility need to be addressed first. We confirm the preparation and finish system during the project review.

Will the sample look identical on every wall?

No. Hand application and changing light create variation. The sample establishes the agreed color, texture and sheen; it is not a promise that every area will look identical under every lighting condition.

What should I send for a Lake Forest plaster consultation?

Include the property city, room photographs, approximate wall or ceiling dimensions, existing surface condition and preferred timing. Mention any original trim or architectural details that need to remain untouched. Photos and drawings can be emailed separately to the Eagles sales inbox.
